Does anyone have a lead, that they are willing to share, on where one might find geospatial data (latitude and longitude data) on insurgent attacks in Afghanistan?

I ask this as I am perusing a copy of the IntelCenter's Terrorism Incident Reference (TIR): Afghanistan: 2000-2007. The data presented falls along the lines of the following example:

"On 12 Apr. 2007, Taliban rebels attacked a police checkpoint in Akhurma District, Farah Province. Seven rebels were killed. [Source: Xinhua, Beijing, 1716 GMT, 12 Apr. 2007]"

Any help would be appreciated.

I did a lot of research on this topic for a graduate-level project. Unfortunately, there isn't much open-source data generally and none that would provide for the fidelity you're looking for. Here's the SWC post on my project (http://council.smallwarsjournal.com/showthread.php?t=7403).

The long and short of it is that I was only able to find data down to the district level, but even there significant issues and uncertainties exist.
