Back in 2002 I was in London on a six week TDY where I of course visted the Imperial War Museum. There is a statue of a British infantryman that really stuck with me and I thought it was titled "The Whipper". Well, that name does not seem to ring a bell with people who work at the museum so I'll attempt to identify here. The statute is in the WWI section of the museum. The infantryman is standing, gripping his rifle with both hands across his thighs. The infantryman has a determined look on his face - maybe even a kick-ass look about him. Ring a bell to anyone here?

Just a thought, ‘Wipers’ is how the ANZACs, and possibly the Brits, pronounced Ypres.
