For those with AKO access, this recent post on the BCKS COIN forum may be of interest:

The Fort Leavenworth COIN Cell will be conducting a COIN Seminar at Fort Polk 11 - 15 September 2006. This topic will be used to post the Small Group Case Studies used for Practical Exercises including discussions and support documents throughout the course. Please feel free to participate in our virtual portion of the seminar...

...The attached documents will be utilized for the COIN Seminar Small Working Group PE #1. The powerpoint slides will be used as an aid to identify the important aspects of an insurgency. The final pages "Dynamics of Insurgency" is also the briefing format. The end state is to determine the strategy the insurgency is using (Military focused (Foco), Urban terrorist, Protracted, and/or Subversive) For more info on insurgent strategies, phases, and organization look at the Insurgency Case Study Briefing.

The Fort Leavenworth Army/Marine Counterinsurgency Center staff will be conducting a COIN Seminar for the COIN Academy located at Fort Knox 23 - 27 October 2006. This topic will be used to provide virtual support to the COIN Seminar and will allow the COIN forum members to participate with the Small Group Practical Exercise (PE) discussions related to the Case Studies used during the seminar. Case Studies and supporting documents will be posted in this topic for the COIN forum members review.

PE #1 (https://forums.bcks.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=286407) will be conducted on 23 October between 1300 - 1530 hrs.

PE #2 (https://forums.bcks.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=287694) will be conducted on 27 October between 0830 – 1100 hrs.

We invite all our COIN members to come join us and provide your input to the virtual portion of the COIN Seminar.
