My friend Bernard (http://www.has.vcu.edu/wld/faculty/means.html) is an archaeologist teaching anthropology at VCU’s School of World Studies. Over the past few months he was gotten his Virtual Curation Laboratory up and running. [LINK (http://vcuarchaeology3d.wordpress.com/)] The centerpiece of the lab is a 3D scanner which among other things grabs images such as those below. How is this Small Wars related?, you may ask. Well, so far the main granting agency has been the DOD’s Legacy Resource Management Program (https://www.dodlegacy.org/legacy/index.aspx), something I would have been totally unaware of otherwise. See, for example, the post related to a trip made to do some work at Fort Lee (http://vcuarchaeology3d.wordpress.com/2011/09/22/the-trouble-with-bullets/).
