Domestic terror & insurgent groups

I am attempting to educate myself on the counterinsurgency and counter terror operations conducted by state and federal agencies against domestic groups such as the KKK, Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, SLA, SDS, AIM, etc. Looking for recommendations on must read articles and books.
