Very interesting post at Talisman Gate blog by Nibras Kazimi, a secular Iraqi exile and member of the Iraqi National Congress about the Shia festival of Ashura. Does a lot to explain this holiday (http://talismangate.blogspot.com/2007/01/today-is-ashura.html)to us non-Shia.
