Does anyone have an idea what is going on with the Russian Chinese border region?

Russia announced a large scale exercise and then this popped up concerning large scale Chinese troop movements headed to the Russian border---have not heard anything on joint exercises.

A question raised by Outlaw09 on troop movements on the shared border, so created a new thread.

Putin Orders Military Exercises in Russia's East

Could be a response to this, or they could be collaborating (joint exercise) that hasn't been announced yet.

There is a long history between Russia and China along their border, but lately we have been seeing a lot of cooperation between Russia and China, which may or may not endure. A little back ground.

Russia and China cooperate along economic, technological, military, and political lines. What’s more, in all of these areas they have something the U.S. lacks: strategy and the will to put it into practice.

Examples of the China-Russia alliance abound.

The signing of a 30-year, $400 billion natural-gas deal between China and Russia in May was the biggest in the history of the natural-gas industry.

Too early to tell, but obviously the nature of the relationship between Russia and China has significant strategic implications.

Bill--especially since both have very similar new military doctrines built on UW and information warfare.
