SWC has a few naval related threads. Hat tip to the Lowy Institute for a US Naval War College Review article by a ret'd Soviet Navy officer 'Kamikazes: The Soviet Legacy':https://www.usnwc.edu/getattachment/b2ec1735-8652-40b0-ae04-a9e30a5597cd/Kamikazes--The-Soviet-Legacy.aspx

'Badgers' being the NATO term for TU-16 bombers / recce and 'Blinders' the more capable TU-22 bomber; their Cold War target USN aircraft carriers.

A very short review has this:
...contains a depth of detail about Soviet military operations that I have never seen before.

As a supplement there is this ex-USN author's article: 'Deception and the Backfire Bomber: Reexamining the Late Cold War Struggle between Soviet Maritime Recconaissance and US Navy Countertargeting':http://www.informationdissemination.net/2014/10/deception-and-backfire-bomber.html
