Multiple reports that #Saudi army, navy & airforce & national guard are at high alert & moved to Qatari borders.

CNN exclusive (Arabic): Qatar troops on high alert due to fears of military intervention from Saudi border https://goo.gl/XEJ0dQ

Qatar daily @alraya_n calls #Saudi Wahhabi religious authority "hypocrites" in a sign of major escalation http://www.raya.com/File/Get/10002a98-b4c6-4128-94a0-c25e35741e9a#pagemode=thumbs#…

The significance of this is that #Saudi Wahhabi religious authority is highest authority for Qataris too. This may mean religious divorce.

A simple title for a dispute that threatens regional stability and basing for Western forces, notably USAF. With only one clear winner IMHO: Iran.

This is a clear explanation, which starts with:
The Gulf Arab monarchies are currently in the depths of a deep and painful spat. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain have joined forces to compel Qatar to change its policies and its approach to foreign policy. We can offer educated guesses as to what is irritating the troika this time, not least through extrapolating from similar difficulties in recent decades. But, aside from some generic complaints emanating from the media outlets hostile to Qatar, there are, in reality, few actual details available. Nor are there any official statements of demands from the troika currently available for Qatar’s elite to consider and respond to.
(Ends with) Though it is not easy, and there are important and keenly-felt divisions, the states need to realise that, ultimately, far more unites them than divides them.Link:https://defenceindepth.co/2017/06/19/disunity-in-the-gulf/

There are some posts on this spat elsewhere, which defy easy copying to here, so use this link to see them, approx. twenty-five:http://council.smallwarsjournal.com/showthread.php?t=24661&highlight=qatar
Finally last Twitter had a film clip of a small number of Turkish APC's arriving in Qatar; which I suspect came by sea.

Hamid Hussain, a SWJ contributor, has sent the following commentary, which is on the attachment and ends with:
The price of brinkmanship of leaders is usually paid by their subjects and ripple effect goes beyond the borders of their countries. Leaders surrounded by court jesters and with modus operandi of making decisions on whims and in a fit of anger without serious thought and without informed counsel usually end up in blind alleys. Everyone makes mistake but a wise man grasps his folly early and acts quickly to minimize damage from an error.

An Indian SME commentary on the crisis, global politics aside India has a significant human interest - ah, kith & kin:):
In these circumstances it would be advisable for India to keep contingency plans to protect the interests of 650,000 Indian workers who constitute a quarter of the 2.6m Qatari population.

On Trump's tweets:
Trump did not follow this convention perhaps due to his impulsive nature or immaturity in handling sensitive foreign policy matters.
