The two terrorist attacks on April 10, 2007 in Casablanca, Morocco, and the April 11, 2007 bombing in the Algerian capital were harshly condemned in the Arab world. This was clearly reflected in cartoons published in Arab newspapers, many of which dealt with various aspects of Islamist terrorism.

The cartoons presented the terrorists who perpetrated the attacks in Morocco and Algeria as bloodthirsty murderers destined for hell; the spread of terrorism in the Arab world was characterized as a worrying and threatening phenomenon; terrorism was presented as a distortion of the commandments of the Koran; and there was criticism of the clergy's acquiescence in the face of terrorist acts.

Hello Marc !
My all time favorite, in whatever language "Cartoon No. 9: "No to the Murder of Innocents." The figure in the cartoon, representing terrorism, is reading the Koran upside-down."

With no real intent to stray too far off-track, I think Slapout and his 'stuffed animals' are coming back herein. Rest assured, He's coming :cool:

Honestly, we have literally tons of comics that symbolize death, don't mess with the best, etc, etc, etc.

My take: This Spookie Bravo Sierra only really works if you truly believe in it from the start. Otherwise, "In God we trust, all others pay cash", and "Forget about the dog, beware of the owner (holding an S&W .357)".

Those comics circulated weekly in Bagram, and most had no idea what the real meaning was, and those that did try to figure it out, never really wanted to know too much more (Me).

Hi Stan,

Let's just say that I find them to be quite "interesting" given other earlier reactions to cartoons. I'm wondering when/if the artists will have a fatwah issued against them :confused:.

Reza Ramazani, professor and department chairman of economics, reflected on Muslim stereotypes.

“People have this perception that if you are from the Middle East that, number one, you’re Muslim, and number two, that you’re a terrorist or against Western values,” Ramazani said.

Ramazani, originally from Iran, said there is a developing perception that people from the Middle East are evil and are trying to harm people in the U.S.
