Much has been written about competition in the gray zone in the past couple of years, but awakening to this threat has been slow and uneven. Developing an adequate strategy to protect and advance our interests in the gray has even been slower.

The CSIS "Understanding Gray Zones" is a compilation of five short videos (each less than five minutes).

1. Understanding Gray Zones
2. Information Warfare
3. Economic Coercion
4. Use of Ambiguous Forces
5. Responding to the Threats

In short, it argues we're not currently structured to compete in the gray zone effectively (across the entire government we lack the organizational structure, authorities, and doctrine).

If you have ideas on how to compete more effectively let the community know.

Cheers Bill, I must make time to watch the CSIS videos.

Meantime the cited article, which appeared in May 2018 in 'International Affairs', published by Chatham House appeared via Twitter and is for now freely available. The authors are two British academics, whose speciality is intelligence.
