This is kind of an odd request so forgive me.

I am looking for books / manuscripts / disserations on war and conflict written in French and not available in English.

I am trying to learn French for some field work I am going to do in a couple of years. The problem is that all French textbooks talk about is the Eiffel tower and ordering pastries (obviously an exaggeration, but you get my point).

To motivate me to keep learning I was hoping to get my hands on some good war/conflict books not available in English. The difficulty level of the reading is not really important. Even if I have to look up every word, at least then I will feel like learning French is useful/interesting in the short term.

Thanks in advance.

This is the web site for a French Army magazine called "Doctrine".

http://www.cdef.terre.defense.gouv.fr/publications/doctrine/doctrine_us.htm

It is published in both French and English so you can check your translation very easily.

Quite a few of the International Crisis Group (http://www.crisisgroup.org) reports are available in FR.

You can also read just about anything in French at the United Nation's (http://www.un.org/french/) site, NATO's (http://www.nato.int/home-fr.htm) site, and of course the European Union's (http://europa.eu/index_fr.htm) home page.

At this rate, you have this Sierra down to an art
