Danger Room, 2 Oct 08: Robber Recruits Henchmen on Craiglist (http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/10/robber-recruits.html#more)

The award for crook of the year goes to the as-of-yet-uncaptured robber who not only "wrested a bag of cash from an armored truck guard and escaped down a creek with an inner tube." He used "decoys summoned from a Craigslist ad to distract witnesses," too, ABC News reports (http://www.abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=5930862&page=1). Oh, and pepper spray.....

......FBI spokeswoman Robbie Burroughs tells the Seattle Times (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008217929_robbery01m0.html) that she'd never heard of anyone using an inner tube as a getaway vehicle.

I can't wait to find out this guy's story once he gets caught. The minute I heard about this I figured it was some smart ass E4 who just got out and had a lot of time on his hands the past few years pulling security while day dreaming. The craigslist angle is very interesting.

Is there such a thing as Slapout Based Crime? Could this be an example? Hiring decoys - that's pretty awesome.

The get away inner tube would probably qualify:wry:

I thought the fact he got the decoys to show up but didn't pay them off was classic too.
