Nice to see some new visitors to the site. SWJ was getting bland with all of its reasoned discourse. What a lucky break that this thread suddenly attracted some people who could inject profanity, name-calling, finger-pointing, and other nonsense that has been missing from the site for so long.

This is not false modesty, but I thought that I was one-upped by this one (http://smallwarsjournal.com/blog/2009/08/torture-at-the-library-of-cong/#comment-3839)...

The last 24 hours is akin to the Jerry Springer crowd showing up at a Charlie Rose interview - some things don't mix.
... though I guess that one couldn't be considered for the prize due to the appearance of a conflict of interest.

I opted to abandon that thread in hopes that they will lose interest and take their nonsense to a more appropriate site. I am guessing that others did the same. It appears to be working.

I doubt that they will. The loons of the blogsphere seem to have a distinct aversion to message boards. Perhaps it's due to the ease with which they can be beaten down here....:eek:
