Is Iraq a "limited war?" If so, what are our limited goals/objectives? Could it be that we have much more than limited goals, yet are fighinting or conducting a limited war campaign?

If we reiview the original joint resolution for the authorization of the use of force against Iraq, how far have we strayed off course?

Most all wars are limited, unless of course you are going to follow the Roman example of kill them all and then plow salt into the soil. We have done a very poor job of setting out our objectives in Iraq, it seems to have started as bringing democracy to the Middle East and slowly regressed to getting the new Iraq army to where it can fight the insurgents themselves. I think if we had been more honest with ourselves at the start about what we were trying to accomplish and how we could do that we could have avoided some of our present difficulties.

I would say that our goals are certainly not within the classic definition of limited war, but our tactics remain those of limited war.
