20 minute TED clip (http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_at_state.html)

Talking at the US State Department this summer, Hans Rosling uses his fascinating data-bubble software to burst myths about the developing world. Look for new analysis on China and the post-bailout world, mixed with classic data shows.

Kiwigrunt,

Two brilliant lectures on public health and another on poverty: http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_shows_the_best_stats_you_ve_ever_seen .html
by Hans Rosling Swedish "African hand" speaker (his bio is there too).

In the linked talk Americans will like the last minute where he compliments the USA.

Convergence is the theme and the amazing success of some countries. Sub-Sahara Africa is the 'Chaos Country' on a huge scale, with a few exceptions.

Hopefully Bob's World and his quest for strategic intelligence will stop by and listen.

Finally have a peek at this website:http://www.gapminder.org/ whose motto is 'Unveiling the beauty of statistics for a fact based world view'
