Executive Outcomes and PMCs in Peacekeeping. . .
I am trying to write something both for a Professor and potentially for Cornell's joke of a foreign affairs journal about Peacekeeping - I know a little about South Africa-based Executive Outcomes in Sierra Leone, but I was wondering what other people might know about their employment as a substitute for multinational forces in peacekeeping scenarios - what I've read has usually painted a rosy picture of EO's time in Sierra Leone. Any of the old Africa Hands around here know anything?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
EO specifically? Or PMCs in general?
If you want PMCs as a whole, rather than just EO, you might want to check out Tim Spicer's autobiography An Unorthodox Soldier.
He was the guy that ran Sandline, and was involved in a lot of business in Sierra Leone and west Africa. Fascinating book, even if a bit self-aggrandizing (but what autobiography isn't)
