Just in case you were starting to get comfortable with the current mayhem, BBC has this report on cosmic rays...

The cosmic ray detector is therefore designed to spot when rays have caused interference and then tell the chip to repeat the command.

I wonder if this explains the frequent glitches that I experience in various Microsoft products. I must be a magnet for cosmic rays.
