August 2006

28 - 31 August - SOF Language and Culture Seminar (Seminar); Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Sponsored by US Special Operations Command, this year's theme is "Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for the CLPM" and it is intended to train and inform Command Language Program Managers on new technology, methodology, and policy as relate to language and cultural expertise. We continue to do our utmost to focus the Seminar on training for and concerns of unit CLPMs while also addressing Service Component issues. You will note we finally dropped “Conference” from the event’s title and are using “Seminar. This accurately reflects our increasing focus on making CLPMs more capable and effective in putting language capability in the field. Show up and learn from others and help teach others so that we all can improve on our past year's performance. There will be training, issue forums, unit briefs, and information briefs. We want to hear from the units what went right in their programs and I look forward to a productive, enjoyable event in which we once again throw off the gloves and go toe to toe on issues and work on solutions.
