Dear SWC Crew,

I'm trying to compile a list of the best and most popular biographies of COIN/guerrilla warfare pioneers and practitioners. I'm most interested in biographies that make causal links between education/training and experience. I see a trend, although not the only one, of unconventional backgrounds that later have value in military affairs (Lawrence as an archaeologist, Lansdale in advertising, Bohannan in anthropology).

While I'm also interested in memoir, I'm most interested in biographies of an national background, with an emphasis on the US experience in the 20th century.

So, what are your favorites and why?

Cheers,

Jay
