It's a recent Washington post article by MG Scales and LtGen van Riper.

I have a rather poor opinion of this piece because it's full of questionable or misleading
statements and the authors do not seem to be consistent at all.

Sometimes I wonder why it's so easy for certain people to publish low-quality
texts and comments in national media - and still get attention!

For further perspective, this Washington Post piece seems to be a condensed version of Scales' AFJ piece here.

Default The Scales AFJ article is far better than the Op-Ed.

    Thanks for posting it.

I've talked to knowledgeable people who wrote ####ty articles before, and the main excuse is "the editor wanted it this way".

My stance on this is that you're responsible for the quality of your text, not the editor. You have to accept that responsibility if you accept the editor's demands AND allow them to mention you as the author.

The Op-Ed maybe a patchwork, but ultimately it's a very confused piece of low quality.
