    Default Pakistan Terrorist Attacks Data

    Gentlemen,

I am writing a short paper on terrorism in Pakistan, I believe I have some good sources but there is one thing I am missing. Does anyone know if there is a data set available that lists suspected attacks by organizations based in Pakistan? Where these attacks occurred (inside or outside of Pakistan), dates, targets, casualties, etc…

I have looked at RANDs Database of Worldwide Terrorism Incidents, but it lists attacks coming into a country not being coordinated from a country.

    Thanks

    Default Robert Pape

From a paper I wrote last week, which referenced a lot of reviews of Robert A. Pape's Dying to Win, it seemed that his book had a list of suicide attacks. Please keep in mind that I did not read the text, but rather multiple reviews of his book and similar books. Dying to Win should have a list of suicide attacks up to maybe 2005 or 2003, but does not differentiate between suicide terrorism (against civilians) or suicide missions. This may not include the data you're looking for, but I hope it helps.

    Default Here to help

The first place to check would be the India-based think tank South Asian Terrorism Portal: http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/satp/index.html

Less certain might be the Pakistan Security Research Unit @ Bradford University:http://spaces.brad.ac.uk:8080/displa...B80F1C04503405

Have a look at Stephen Tankel's work, IIRC some links are here already.

I will ask two people I know who watch events more closely.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the help, Tankel was especially useful with his discussion of LeT.

I am not sure if the following is what you are looking for (in part at least), but the IntelCenter's Terrorism Incident Reference (TIR) may possess some utility.

Default Trail of Tragedy: A chronicle of violence in Pakistan 2010

Hat tip (again) to Circling the Lion's Den:
Trail of Tragedy: A chronicle of violence in Pakistan 2010, by Pakistan's Strengthening Participatory Organisation, is a chronology compiled from the online archives of the two Pakistani newspapers, Dawn and The News. Produced in the form of a day-by-day record, it includes - but is not limited to - suicide attacks, bombings, ambushes, target killings, casualties resulting from military operations and drone attacks.
