    Default Cavguy heads to Afghanistan

    Hey all,

Apologize if I've been a little light on the posting, my Brigade's been in a pretty heavy train-up for Afghanistan which has sapped much of my spare time.

I'll be shipping out this week, we'll be replacing the Stryker Brigade currently in RC-S. Our Squadron will have a piece of dirt around Kandahar. Will post more (and hopefully some observations) when I can and during the tour. I get to put into action what I've learned around here and elsewhere the past four years! Thanks to the council members for all of their mentorship and support!

It's never about luck, but always about preparation. Get at 'em with the vehicles. Employed with some deliberate effort, they perform fine.

Good luck, Niel. My buddy is the -3 for 525- you may see him.

I'll be at NTM-A in about 2 months, probably won't get out, but who knows. Shoot me a note if you need anything on the training side.

    Default Bonne chance ....

Niel; get back to us here at SWC as you can during your tour; and finally when you get back to US, we can say "welcome home".

I still like your "COIN Course" - to which, I hope you add after Astan.

    Regards

    Mike

    Thanks guys.

The mission set this time looks much different than the one I faced in Iraq. Fortunately I am blessed with a great commander and superb staff to work with.

Will see what our environment allows us to do - I hope to be able to "reach back" and keep you all informed within the bounds of OPSEC ...

Seek to understand the populace while at the same time putting continuous pressure on the enemy. Start breaking in those boots now, you'll need to walk in this war to do it right . Looking forward to hearing from you when you can come up on comms, and also looking forward to sending you a welcome home note in a few months.
