Even though Erdogan does not care if the EU let's him in or not...he does care about NATO membership even if he looks like he is warming up to Putin...why he still views Greece as an "enemy" and NATO as a way to keep them in check PLUS the nice massive funding flow that comes in yearly for NATO base use.
At a time when his own economy will be taking a massive hit over the next years.......because business investment does not like turmoil......

He cannot be kicked out of NATO but he can be suspended......for not adhering to the democratic principles that guide NATO....
So now he is bribing his own public by enticing them with construction jobs....who will own the construction companies...Erdogan naturally especially after Gezi....using land he probably already owns.
