Tehran news media outlet Farsnews is saying the Russians warned Erdogan of the impending coup......

    https://archive.is/CJgFh#selection-899.0-910.1

Several Arab media outlets quoted diplomatic sources in Ankara as saying that Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, known locally as the MIT, received intel from its Russian counterpart that warned of an impending coup in the Muslim state.

The unnamed diplomats said the Russian army in the region had intercepted highly sensitive army exchanges and encoded radio messages showing that the Turkish army was readying to stage a coup against the administration in Ankara.

The exchanges included dispatch of several army choppers to President Erdogan's resort hotel to arrest or kill the president.

The diplomats were not sure of the Russian station that had intercepted the exchanges, but said the Russian army intelligence unit deployed in Khmeimim (also called Hmeimim) in Syria's Northern province of Lattakia is reportedly equipped with state-of-the-art electronic and eavesdropping systems to gather highly sensitive information for the Russian squadrons that are on an anti-terrorism mission in Syria.

Article 25 of State of Emergency Act spells doom for Turkish journalists and analysts - punishes "exaggerated" news.

Point of inquiry: has anyone found those three coup F-16s? Still missing as far as I've heard.

This morning a military officer attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the Bosphorus Bridge in #Istanbul

Police forces convinced him not to jump. Some Turkish media suggest he is a pro-coup officer, but this seems unconfirmed so far #Turkey

Turkey spent the better part of the last ten years checking off the 36 blocks necessary to join the EU and had completed 26 of the required 36....then about two years ago under Erdogan started to back track and drag their feet all the while claiming it was the fault of the EU......

Then they attempted to blackmail the EU with the free visa travel in exchange for refugee flow controls which the EU reluctantly did .......

Then it now appears they really do not care about the EU free visa travel as Erdogan attempts to bring back the death penalty......which is an automatic reject of the free visa travel and EU membership....

WHAT will slow down Erdogan is the US/NATO talk of suspending Turkey from NATO which they can in fact do and that would cut millions flowing into Turkey at a time when the Turkish economy has been stagnating under Erdogan.....

BREAKING: Turkish Justice Minister says death penalty is a legal matter and should not be of any concern to the EU

This Court specifically deals with public finances, so it could be related to the corruption allegations against Erdogan that coincided with his split from Gulen. Again, another instance of the purge deviating from anti-coup to anti-opposition.

Azor....what is extremely interesting in all of this that has gotten totally lost in the Erdogan narrative is that in fact the Gulen movement inside Islam is a very interesting development and brings with it for the first time in over 1000 years a possibility of a "reformational movement" inside Islam that bodes well for the future....for Islam itself and it allows a secular/modernist way forward for Islam and could in fact counter the "traditionalist viewpoint" of say Erdogan /AKP/IS/AQ......and even the MB.

That is the true threat Erdogan sees in Gulen.......

What is interesting is how deep the Gulen movement had and still is inside the Turkish society.....

That is what is meant behind the Erdogan statement....."we will tear out the evil by it's roots".....

He is doomed though to fail over the long haul as ideas never can be stopped once started....as one cannot "tear" them out of the head of the individual.

Everything thing he thinks he is doing to counter the coup will in the end just strengthen the personal beliefs of a Gulen individual...because it will prove to that individual that Gulen was/is correct.

Might take years but in the end hate to say it...Erdogan is already losing....

Erdogan and his AKP/MB has not quite figured out that the rest of the world while not condoning coup's simply does not like the counter coup to produce a dictator who cuts a long tradition of democracy claiming he is protecting democracy......

Turkey keen for mention in G20 communique, but rejected
    http://reut.rs/2a13r8T

Just what was he thinking or maybe not thinking????

The Turkish economy has been really struggling and will fall into the deep end in about a month or two and he needs foreign funds to flow and he will not be getting them....

AND even his AKP members are angry now at the EU for potentially not allowing free visa travel to the rest of the EU.....they seem to not understand the connection to democratic principles and free visa travel...per EU....

Erdogan and the AKP/MB have for years wanted to swing the Turkish secularism towards Islamic fundamentalism......

They were simply waiting and took and or provoked the disgruntled military elements....into action OR helped along the way.
