U.S. Navy ships are patrolling the waters off the coast of Yemen to help the country recapture suspected al Qaeda terrorists who escaped from prison early this week and could attempt to flee by sea, the Pentagon said today.

Among the 23 prisoners who escaped from a Yemeni prison Sunday was Jamal Ahmed Badawi, the mastermind of the bomb attack on the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000, the Pentagon said in a statement from Bahrain.
