Default LtGen Michael Dunn on the News

We were forwarded this e-mail that LtGen Dunn (USAF), President of Natonal Defense University, recently sent out:

    Colleagues,

The troops I have met with are most vocal on the lack of coverage of good news events on Iraq.

The media industry study at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces tells me there are tremendous economic pressures on local newspapers to trim expenses and reduce overhead -- thus they may not have the people to search for information, nor the wherewithal to send reporters to the battle areas.

What we use at NDU is a web site dedicated to information on the global war on terrorism. I like it because of the wealth of info which one can find.

The web-site address is http://www.defendamerica.mil (Defend America).

Information specifically on Iraq is on the right side of the site under Iraq. I like two of the links there -- one is the reconstruction link: http://www.defendamerica.mil/iraq/rebuilding.html (Iraqi Reconstruction).

The other is the "Weekly Progress Report": http://www.defendamerica.mil/downloa...e-20051114.pdf.

The latter is very similar to the information reviewed in National Security Council discussions.

Finally, there is a site that comes directly from the battlefield: http://www.dvidshub.net/ (Digital Visual and Imagery Distribution System).

Click on news articles on the left side; then reconstruction on the next screen - and you will see all the articles. Some articles require you to register - but it is free to do so.
