    Crash details follow......

As reported by Combat Aircraft a Russian Navy Mig-29KUBR embarked aboard Adm. Kuznetsov aircraft carrier has crashed on Nov. 13.

The aircraft is one of the four naval Fulcrums operated by the 100th Independent Shipborne Fighter Aviation Regiment.

According to our sources, the incident occurred around 14.30Z and involved a two-seater Fulcrum in a formation of three Mig-29s operating from the carrier in the eastern Mediterranean Sea off Syria: whilst one of the remaining aircraft recovered aboard the Kuznetsov the third one diverted for unknown reasons to Syria.

Footage allegedly showing Mig-29s in the skies over Aleppo had happered earlier on the same day.

The pilot of the doomed aircraft ejected safely and was rescued by a helicopter while the Russian Navy radioed all the nearby vessels to remain 5NM away from the crash point.

Needless to say the incident unfolded while several NATO aircraft and warships closely monitored the operations aboard Russia’s only carrier.

Russia says it just flew some strategic bombers 11,000 km via North Sea & Atlantic to fire missiles at Syria. Stunt not seen for a while.

Johan Norberg says he's looking at Russian preparation for large-scale armed warfare—not "hybrid warfare." "The whole country."

Can Russia carry out large scale offensive operations right now....yes it can and with little to no prep time needed as it has been exercising exactly that for now three solid years.....

The Russian AF seems these days to have a serious problem in their ability to simply turn on their transponders...none in the Baltics..none in the areas area Ukraine and certainly none in Syria...and none in the Black Sea.....

Russia furious after Swiss fighter jets buzz governmental plane:http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a7426981.html

… quite rich from Russia. Good for you Switzerland

Maybe the Swiss checked the #Russian government plane because it partly blocked transponder data. According to @flightradar24 it did.

Russia demands answers on why Swiss jets flanked APEC plane
Surely, what's good for the goose is good for Russians?

Reference the crashed MiG from the Russian ACC....

Rumours – lost MiG-29KR f/ #Kuznetsov was piloted by Col Igor Matkovsky, one of top 3 carrier-based pilots in RU.
    http://www.vz.ru/news/2016/11/23/845437.html#

He as a Russian AF Hero had over 200 carrier landings and he basically ran out of fuel because the ACC Commander did not divert him to a land AF and they could not get the arresting mechanism fixed in time...

Have a hunch that radio chatter between the plane and controller on Kuznetsov was pretty heated.

Absolutely makes sense, falls into context. Even aces can't pull miracles the dire state #Russian Navy actually is in.

A massive single point of failure in the Russian Command and Control that has never been fixed in all their modernization efforts....Commanders are simply afraid to make a serious/critical decisions as they are afraid it will kill their careers and then off to Siberia...

EXAMPLE...on the Army side all Russian Commanders down to Company Commanders physically sign the operational orders as to what they do.....thus they are held then legally responsible if their portion of the op fails...and changes to the op orders requires all new signatures....

Vessels from Russia's Black Sea Fleet have taken up position near the disputed Crimean peninsula - which was illegally annexed from Ukraine in 2014 - to help strengthen the air defences.
The aggressive land grab plunged Ukraine-Russia and east-west relations to their lowest point in years and threatened a new Cold War

Default Russian Navy MiG-29 Crash: More than Meets the Eye

A RUSI article dissects why this plane crashed, killing it's very experienced pilot and the apparent "cover up". It concludes:
The Russian media’s current attempt to attribute the loss of the MiG-29 solely to the deck crew’s incompetence appears to be a face-saving measure aimed at diverting criticism away from the flaws in the Russian weapons systems being aggressively marketed on international markets.

Russia is recalling the Russian carrier Admiral Kuznetsov from the Eastern Mediterranean and sending the ship back to its homeport in northern Russia. The strike group consisting of the carrier, guided missile cruiser Peter the Great, two Udaloy-class guided missile destroyers and auxiliaries will begin the voyage to Severomorsk.

Default Is Russia strengthening its Baltic Fleet?

The Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab has confirmed that two Buyan-class missile corvettes of the Black Sea Fleet that were officially destined to join the flotilla off Syria have remained at Kaliningrad.

Given that the Baltic Fleet has been the most neglected, this may represent a "sea change", given the emphasis that the Kremlin has placed on the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. It is especially worrying, given that NATO has been pondering how to ensure conventional deterrence in the Baltic region.

    https://medium.com/@DFRLab/wintering...63f#.8bdxqiknb

Currently, no one can say which fleet these corvettes belong to...

Reference the smoking and polluting Russian aircraft carrier heading home now.....

Russia's colorful diplomats in the U.K., ever fond of mocking any & all critics, say "ship of shame" is an "unfair label" for A. Kuznetsov.

The Russian aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, is expected to pass through the Straits of Dover around lunchtime today.

    Two tugs in the convoy....

NOTICE Russian media is not covering the return at all...
