Yesterday Russia launched a intensive info war set of reports--one was an "alleged" meeting between the Commander of the UA forces fighting at the Donetsk airport and a Russian mercenary Motorola----within several hours western social media was openly questioning the video of the meeting--meeting was played up big time in the Russian TV media back in Russia.

Appears that the "meeting" was a well staged fake.

@OnlineMagazin The OSCE cars in Ukraine have all license plates. Left photo: OSCE car at the meeting with Motorola.

    #Urgent request to the @OSCE_SMM
Please confirm,YOUR personal and vehicles faciliated a meeting at #Donetsk airport.

Video is believed FAKED, but this raises a Q - were actual @OSCE_SMM reps in vid, or faked too?

The second major Russian TV reporting and was carried to a degree in western media was the reported movement of three major Russian troop/mercenary convoys south towards Mariupol.

Again western social media was able to verify all three convoys were the same convoy just filmed differently to give the impression of three.

BLOG: Russians film and publish their own large columns on the move in Ukraine... http://ukraineatwar.blogspot.nl/2014/12

Don Cossack? spotted in 'to mariupol' video. So it is not filmed by locals. Thus seems orchestrated/planned video... pic.twitter.com/FIMeTSHLLa

Same truck spotted in the two 'huge' columns 'to Mariupol' So there is definitely overlap/same convoy. pic.twitter.com/lT4dxbiEWf

UPDATE: All 'to Mariupol'-videos are filming parts of the SAME convoy http://ukraineatwar.blogspot.nl/2014...e-columns.html … pic.twitter.com/YIDwFqbbgS

Then today a photo shows up on the net depicting Ukrainian Army troops standing next to proRussian troops during a big mercenary/Russian troop parade celebrating Russian Independence which is being researched by Fotoforenscis to see if it was photoshopped.

    #PICTURES FROM TODAY:

What is wrong with this world?!?
    pic.twitter.com/dgQTDGFIgz

Seems as if Russia is determined to depict themselves in their Russian media for their own population as getting to a "normal situation of peace" in eastern Ukraine as the target population of all three seemed to be the Russian population in general.

kaur---while all claim it was from a proRussain think tank---the article was completely correct in everything it mentioned---so if factual then why released by a proRussian think tank?

If you take the geolocation it was talking about it is a perfect match to eastern Ukraine both in population, border crossing points and terrain.

What surprised me was the need to try to discredit the think tank---no one attempted to discredit the article---that is the key because it was factually correct

Article on Russian GRU Informational Psyops---

Agencies of the informational-psychological operations (IPSYOPS) of the GRU of the General Staff and the Russian Federal Security Service [FSB] were tasked to carry out a large-scale information campaign to disrupt or substantially obstruct preparations for the 4th round of mobilization in Ukraine.

The operation is planned in conjunction with the structures of the “information war” of the Russian-terrorist forces, created in the occupied areas of Donbas by GRU experts of the RF General Staff.

The main purpose of the operation is to disrupt or ultimately hinder the mobilization [in Ukraine] through a large-scale disinformation campaign, thereby preventing the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations to increase the number of operating reserves, or to significantly slow down and complicate the process.

The Ukrainian reservists and their family members are the designated target groups and objects of this campaign. The task – is to create a negative context around the ongoing so-called anti-terrorist operation (the unbearable living conditions of Ukrainian soldiers in the ATO zone; a representation of the ATO forces as “cannon fodder;” the presentation of terrorism in Donbas as a “national liberation movement,” etc.).

During the operation, there are plans to make extensive use of the formation of “properly
structured public opinion on social networks” with the assistance of video and audio materials and various “eyewitness statements.” In addition, IPSYOPS agencies in Russia and Donbas are tasked with establishing “a direct or indirect impact” on the audience through some Ukrainian mass media to create so-called “secondary credibility,” primarily through the publication of “credible materials for investigative journalism.”

At least two organizational and administrative meetings took place to discuss the coordination of activies under this operation by the Russian IPSYOPS agencies and the relevant institutions created on the occupied territory of Donbas.

We tend to look at the Russian info war side of things--BUT what about the large US companies Face Book and Twitter---both of these "alleged" US companies have in fact been supporting ongoing Russian info war efforts by their constant blocking and or deleting of accounts on the "complaints" by Russian trolls or the Russian government.

Twitter has a Russia investor with 800M USD invested in Twitter and yet they claim neutrality---and a major Russian oligarch but GS together with Face Book---come on "neutral".

We worry about cyber warfare but Russian "owns" our internet companies.

Since the beginning of the Russian annexation push all we hear in the West and it is even repeated by US commenters is that NATO expansion caused the problem or it was Russian "humiliation" that has caused Russia to lash out.

Even at Putin's last press conference he repeated their "complaints".

Have not seen many in the US media push back on the Russian "myths"--and now NATO is pushing back point for point and it is an interesting read--one you do not hear Putin "talking about".
