Adam--this exercise should be highly looked at as it was conducted by one of their elite AB divisions and under live fire conditions---something our own Rangers do not do during an airfield secure exercise.

Secondly this unit was the first into the Ukraine in August and took heavy loses and 10 POWs of whom 2 were WIA as the Russian attempted to hide their funerals back in Russia.

Thirdly---this exercise is the tip of the spear---the Russian Army just prior to August conducted a massive and I mean massive exercise in the Far East that basically was the precursor exercise for an invasion of a mid sized nation---the West failed to really grasp that idea but over 160K troops from all services were involved to include tactical nuclear missile units.

A serious problem is now occurring within the Russian senior leadership and inside the Russian FM---when you spin up a massive propaganda or disinformation campaign and then you yourself start believing you own propaganda and disinformation then you are in serious trouble and it becomes more and more difficult to recognize "actual reality" and that is dangerous.

This is actual a single point of failure or COG point inside the Russian UW strategy--never believe your own propaganda.

It then becomes virtually impossible to actually conduct diplomacy as the Russian side is so fixated on the disinformation ---ie Debaltseve--Putin kept on stating over and over during Minsk 2 that it had been taken and the UA had to lay down their weapons thus the 70 hour long wait to implement the ceasefire--Merkel virtually gave up attempting to show him he was wrong.

Today from the chambers of Russian “altered state of reality”: It is extremely striking just how Russian FM members bash the Ukraine for not implementing Minsk 1 and 2 but Russia has not implemented a single point in the two agreements-not a single point.

AND this statement today from the Russian FM is the top winner for the "altered state of reality"--might in fact be the truth if in fact there were absolutely no Russian troops and or Russian heavy weapons and or Russian supplying mercenaries and munitions into eastern Ukraine.

The US NSC and Clapper appear to have a disconnect somewhere inside DC these days.

Clapper testified yesterday initially that he felt Russian would not be invading Mariupol and then far later he states he is anticipating a Mariupol invasion in the coming Russian Spring Offensive---you cannot have it both ways so which version is the correct one?

Since the Russians have built up a massive invasion force just inside the Crimea on the border to Mariupol and the mercenaries are shifting forces south to the Mariupol region and north to Kharkiv where also Russian invasion forces have been building up opposite the Kharkvi border and since the West is anticipating a Spring Offensive way WHY would the Russians go when it is anticipated.

The weather is shifting and warming generally faster than normal and will allow for an offensive in late March.

And the annexation begins and the West does again exactly what???

Moskal: 'LPR' completely switches to Russian electricity
    http://www.unian.info/war/1049542-mo...ectricity.html … pic.twitter.com/GvA5wjNGxP

This comes after Gazprom stating yesterday they will start delivering gas themselves to the mercenaries---actually between the gas and electricity supplies from Russia this could end up saving the Ukraine roughly 200M USDs per year. Calls also into question are the Russians then planning to shift electricity via Ukraine networks to the Crimea ending the dependence of Ukraine deliveries?

This statement below is not “an altered state of reality” this is a hardcore Russian threat against the Ukraine BUT it overlooks that the Ukrainian Rada has already passed a law ending non aligned status –it just needs to be constitutional reviewed before becoming a law.

Lavrov: Ukraine must keep its non-aligned status or face being split into several pieces.Outside pressure won’t change Russia’s key policies

This statement is interesting in that it goes back to a circulated document among Russian neo ultra nationalistic/fascist groups last May 2014 stating that the Ukraine could be split into four different zones--one for Poland, one for Hungary and two for Russia.

A very interesting take on the Russian military dependence on Ukrainian key military products and their military industrial base—well worth the reading of the full document. was released shortly after the Crimea annexation and largely ignored by western media.

I had lost track of it and it popped back up today.

    http://gorshenin.eu/news/199_a_key_t...ng_putins.html

    A key to understanding Putin’s motives19 March 2014

Today, perhaps, there isn’t a single thinking person in the world who isn’t trying to find the answer to the question about the ultimate goals of the Russian President. We, as experts, every day hear the same question from politicians, diplomats, journalists, and members of our families. The Gorshenin Institute draws your attention to the article written by a Russian journalist and military analyst Vladimir VORONOV, which was published in Russian monthly magazine Sovershenno Sekretno (Top Secret) on 24 February 2014.

After carefully studying the article, we have arrived at some conclusions. Certainly, the conclusions are based on the hypothesis that the author used reliable and verified information.

    1. It seems that the Russian leader is seriously preparing for a third world war. This follows from the amounts and the nature of orders placed with military industrial companies.

    2. The myth that Ukraine’s defense industry depends on Russia is being demolished. On the contrary, the Russian military industrial complex in a strategic context is highly dependent on Ukraine.

    3. In the light of the hypothetical threat of Ukraine’s association with the European Union and rapprochement with NATO, the goals of the Russian defense enterprises are in jeopardy, and thus access to the Ukrainian defense enterprises needs to be preserved at any cost.

    4. The geography of the Ukrainian defense enterprises, with which Russia links its strategic doctrine, strikingly coincides with the geography of the points of instability in Ukraine. We see that some forces in these regions are creating the prerequisites for legitimizing the annexation of the regions based on the Crimea scenario. We should note that one of the points with a high concentration of such objects is the city of Kyiv.

We should also add the thought by a Russian military expert that Russia may be interested in Ukraine as a huge mobilization reserve of manpower.

We emphasize that these conclusions are made on the assumption of data reliability. We invite you for a discussion on websites LB.UA and Facebook.

If I were Clapper and the NSc advising Obama I believe I would do some thorough and very serious analysis into whether the current Russian UW strategy New Generation Warfare has been working or not working.

It has been a rather successful total Russian government success whether the NSC likes to hear it or not and nothing NATO has released as of yet seems to be a solid counter to it-- for I do not believe NATO and the US after triggering Article 5 will go to war with Russia over a handful of ethnic Russians waving flags, taking over buildings, holding demos and complaining of discrimination inside Estonia.

They are even reluctant to provide defensive weapons under the Budapest Memorandum thus why would they trigger a full scale war when as they initially and often would state---it is an internal affair??

But the Russian UW has and is highly successful up to this point even in the face of massive economic sanctions. The NSC and Clapper would do well in understanding just how successful it has been and note there are some serious single points of failure in it that yes even Russia adapted on the fly with.

One of the major Russian/Putin arguments in invading into the Ukraine and annexing Crimea "was to protect Russian ethnic citizens" from the roving packs of neo Nazi's and right Sector controlled by the fascist junta in Kyiv.

As stated in Putin's duma speech.

Notice that since their August invasion of the Ukraine that argument has completely disappeared.

Has the western media/western leaders held Russia and Putin accountable for these statements in the face of the utter destruction they have unleased on just about any village, town or city inside their zones of control?

If I am defending my "ethnic Russian comrades" why am I destroying their residences, infrastructure and business denying them jobs, food and shelter?

Absolutely nada, nothing has come from the western media or western senior leaders on this issue.

Does that make sense to anyone when such a massive push back on the Russian disinformation exists?

One after reading this Chinese article arguing the Russian myth "we need a sphere of influence and a security zone to protect us from NATO" seems to miss the critical argument.

Cannot Russia make the exact same argument concerning Poland, the Baltics, Romania, Moldavia and Bulgaria?

Why then is the Ukraine so important and not the others and one sees that in some of the Russian myths that have been part and parcel of their disinformation campaign. why can Russian threaten successfully Bosnia for selling weapons to the Ukraine but delivery troops, heavy weapons, munitions and mercenaries to eastern Ukraine.

Why does China fall for the same argument unless they use the same myth in controlling enclaves they have on their borders.

    http://news.yahoo.com/chinese-diplom...065234775.html

What is missing from the Chinese argument is a counter argument--after Russia has effectively violated the basic security tenants for European countries 25 years after the Wall came down --WHAT is it that Russia needs to do to ensure their neighbors that they can in fact trust anything they say and or sign since February 2014?

There is no trust left in Europe on anything Putin says, signs or does and China said nothing about that --strange???

The blatant killing on the open streets of Moscow of an aggressive investigative journalist who was openly researching Moscow’s various roles in the eastern Ukraine mercenary movements.

This killing goes to the heart of what Putin has created since 2002 in Russia and should be a warning to US senior leadership that they are now dealing with a true fascist state and no amount of diplomacy is going to work.

Does the US senior leadership truly feel that even now whatever Russia signed for a document or for that matter any document –that it and they will ever be honored—meaning without trust there is diplomacy and right now we are seeing the true form of Russian nationalism that borders on fascism and the sooner we call it what it is the sooner one can finds solutions. Remember what Stalin told close friends---we will sign documents and if it helps us we will follow them if not them ignore them.

The US senior leadership needs to fully understand that to understand Putin you just need to understand his actions it is that simple--for to trust his words is a massive mistake---he has been showing his actions since 2002 and yet the US and West in general did not want to "see" and "understand" because it contradicted their own ideas and that is a deadly mistake in diplomacy and now we have the Crimean/Ukrainian problem and it will not stop until a true red line is placed and defended.

Since 2002 the following have been killed in Russia----
Paul Khlebnikov of Forbes shot in 2004; Anna Politkovskaya shot in 2006, Natalya Estemirova shot in 2009, ETC.,ETC. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/28/wo...T.nav=top-news

#Russia is regressing to a very dangerous place. This done publicly & symbolically. Kremlin no longer bothers to maintain a facade #Nemtsov

#Nemtsov was working on a report presenting evidence of #Russia's involvement in separatist rebellion in #Ukrainehttp://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...MPLATE=DEFAULT

Reports now that police are ransacking Nemtsov's home. Putin's enemies are always victims, and his victims are always suspects.

Politkovskaya was gunned down. MH17 was shot out of the sky. Now Boris is dead. As always, Kremlin will blame opposition, or CIA, whatever.

This is exactly what I mean---this was one of the initial reports on the killing and notice it talks about being hit by a car--NOT hit by four bullets.

I took a beating here in SWJ back on the Crimea event when I mentioned a number of times that in order to "understand" Putin and the Russia he has built one just needs to reread Orwell's 1984---down to virtually Orwell's same terms can be seen and found now inside Russia and in the current Russian leadership.

And that was a beating--then I mentioned over a number of times that Russia has evolved into a rouge state with again beatings and lately one can even apply the concept that Russia is a "state sponsor of terrorism" on a virtual "Holy War" against western values and alleged decadent western liberalism.

There is currently only one other organization on a global "Holy War jihad"-IS.

The US "Old Guard" political/diplomatic/international relations speaking multiple languages types have been gone since 1990-- when "we" decided that they are no longer necessary because "peace was upon us all" ---has left a major void in the US senior leadership decision making and it is now truly apparent.

Suggest many go back and reread Orwell's 1984, reread any article on fascism especially those written on the emergence of Russian fascism, and read the article I linked to recently on the Russian "Holy War" against the West and then ask the simple question" does it appear that the current US senior leadership have a strategy "any" strategy?

The answer is easy--there is none.
