For the last six months Russia attempted to show it was an Ukrainian SU 25 that shot down MH17 and then today IT is an Ukrainian BUK which was proven to have not been involved and was damaged so it could not have fired anything.

The following is the core reason that now the Russian Defense Ministry is basically lying—I believe they were taken by total surprise that the West was able to get their hands on the BUK-M1-2 warhead which provided the critical evidence.

Question #1 - what kind of weapons hit the Boeing? It should be noted that the investigation checked all anti-Ukrainian versions for the purpose of objectivity. Initially, Russia announced it was a Ukrainian Buk [anti-aircraft missile system], but the version was quickly forgotten for it had no sense - the nearest positions of Ukrainian surface-to-air missile systems were hundreds of kilometers away from the crash spot. The explosion destroyed the jet liner's cabin - the plane was hit at the spot. Then, version #2 arose - Russia accused Ukraine of its Su-25 downing the Boeing with its missile. Su-25 did take off that day and performed a task in a different area, but of course it did not approach the jet liner.

The configuration of missile's submunitions was identified fairly quickly. The extracted submunitions are very similar to those of Buk-M1. Ukraine has such Buks in its defense, but of course, there were none of them near Torez, in the rear of the occupied area, only Russian ones. The form of the elements looks similar, but the size differs. NATO intelligence services have carried out a large-scale parallel search of modern Russian ground-to-air missiles submunitions. By an operation the details of which have not been yet disclosed, a warhead of a Buk-M1-2 missile of Russian production fell into hands of investigators. When it was disassembled, it turned out that submunitions that hit the Boeing are exactly the same as those of the warhead of this modern Russian anti-aircraft missile. Buk-M1-2 complex was developed in 1997, supplied to the Russian Armed Forces in 1998, and never delivered to Ukraine.
Thus, the Prosecutor's Offices of the Netherlands and Australia have prepared a convincing evidence base which also includes a number of other details that are not yet subject to disclosure.
Identification of Buk-M1-2 is extremely important for the investigation, not only because it allows establishing that the missile had been supplied by Russia, and its responsibility for the death of 298 people is proved. It also shows that the launch was carried out by military forces of the Russian Federation, for the Buk-M1-2, which was never delivered to Ukraine, can be only used by servicemen having experience with it and being in active military service.

This is interesting--Russia has two peacekeeping Bdes--14th and 15th--the
15th's armored vehicles were spotted three times in the last two months inside eastern Ukraine.
It must be then the 14th doing "peacekeeping exercises" on peacekeeping experience taught to them by the US 7th army in 2012 and 2013--nice to see US military training hard at work although in the wrong place and with currently the wrong army.

Ukraine has fulfilled the heavy weapons withdrawal correctly and together with the OSCE which the OSCE has verified.
Mercenaries have not and continue to shell and fire on Ukrainian positons and to attempt new land grabs and Russia has done absolutely nothing to even attempt fulfilling Minks 1 and 2 and all the while complained “it is the Ukrainians fault for Minsk failures”.
AND literally months ago in a published Putin announcement---he stated he had directed his Border Security Command to seal the Russian/Ukrainian border--it is on video.
