Outlaw, the only reason why Girkin/Strelkov is alive, is that he has good protection. No surpriseI think that he is just symbol of failed Kremlin's plan A in Ukraine. I suspect that according to plan A Kremlin seriously thought that Donbas people will rebel against Kiev and pick up the arms that Grikin brought in in with the help of service X. Plan A failed right in the beginning when Girkin was sitting on the pile of ATGM and MANPAD-s boxes compaining that there are no local men to fight in May 2014. Plan B started with hordes of Russian cossacks and Chechens. When plan B failed, Russian regular troops moved in en masse in August 2014. I dare to speculate that this Russian failure reminds Cuban invasion in 1961. It was over in very short time, but Russians have extended their clandestine operation for very long. Russians want to hide their role like US intended.
Girkin may be used to let steam out of disappointed veterans from Donbas and supporters of Russkii Mir/Novorossiya in the future.

Shellings and ground attacks have been light today in view of the last few days and weeks, and the Russian BUK manufacturer's myth of the Ukrainian BUK was literally shot out of the water by social media 20 minutes into their presentation AND social media is being literally overwhelmed by the resignation of FIFA President.
Turned out the massive propaganda around the Russian BUK manufacturer's story was a rehash of a debunked Russian engineer story from several weeks ago.
Russia is simply digging the hole even deeper instead of coughing it up and admitting they were responsible for the shot down of MH17.
So I am taking the evening off but will lightly monitor the net to see if anything of interest comes up.

Reference MH17 shot down presentation today by the Russian BUK manufacturer --the launch site they claim that came from their own research seems to be at first glance to be the exact same site as in the "faked" MoD satellite photos.
Noticed the BUK presentation pushed off the front page blog wise the Russian MoD "faked" sat photos story--may have been the intent behind their presentation.
Noticed also a not so subtle shift--meaning is the Russian leadership now slowly placing the full blame on the shot down on the mercenaries BUT with a "stolen Ukrainian BUK" naturally as the launch site is fully in mercenary controlled territory and it would have been impossible for the Ukrainians to have driven a BUK into the area and back out without having been shot at.

Stand corrected--all and I mean all the standard hot spots from the last five days have been under shelling attacks and several ground attacks--reporting has just not filtered up due to FIFA over running everything it seems.
Some of the shellings have been intense and for over several hours now.

Interesting in the simple fact that in the Victory Day Moscow Parade a number of Russian units took part who had fought in the Ukraine.

Russian Spetsnaz and mercenaries are attempting to breach the contact line A direct violation of Minsk 2--AND yet silence from the West.
Well I save my offered Starbucks coffee and a 4 star dinner--NOT a single peep out of Merkel and Hollande who pushed for Minsk 1 and 2 AND certainly nothing out of Obama concerning a MAJOR Russian offense to take more territory in clear violation of Minsk 2.
Why should they--it is argued in western media and reinforced by these same leaders Ukraine is not critical and not worth fighting over.
BUT did even one of them stop and think that the linchpin between the NATO eastern flank and the southern flank ALL runs through the Ukraine--control the Ukraine and you control NATO's flanks.
In my humble opinion--this has got to be the weakest set of western leaders in 40 odd years. Afraid of making serious decisions, afraid of confronting a terrorist rouge state that has broken all security understandings of the last 30 odd years---but are more than willing to bomb IS--how strange it that??
Remember that when ATMs would have helped counter over 800 tanks--none was offered by the West--and yet the West pushes rule of law, good governance and democracy YET when a civil society makes that decision the West runs from it's unspoken responsibilities to assist.
