    Default American attitudes and South Asia

    I promised in another thread that I would start a broader discussion of American attitudes toward South Asia, to include policy, both military and civilian.

    I realize this is an enormous topic but I thought it would be nice to focus on policy, DC consensus opinion, and, especially, mil-mil relations.

    Paul Staniland's article in the Washington Post, recently linked at SWJ, has some interesting reading selections on South Asia (in an article on the larger discussion of political science and policy):
