ROJAVA — USA and Russia are believed to reconsider their policies in Syria during the ceasefire recently implemented under the pressure of the United Nations and the international community.
The both world powers, USA and Russia, reached an agreement to declare a truce in Syria and the political observers believe these two countries will reconsider their policies during the cessation, and they will reestablish their relations based on future political interests.
The two countries have also agreed to hold talks between the Syrian Regime and the opposition while USA still insists on removing al-Asad from power.
An official from the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS) revealed that the relation between the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Syrian Regime has deeply concerned USA. The United States therefore may discontinue its support for the party.
Bahjat Basheer, the representative of ENKS in the Kurdistan Region, told BasNews that PYD has open relations with Bashar al-Asad's regime and it takes the front of Iran and Russia in the international affairs, but always denies it officially.
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has warned the Obama Administration of the menace of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), PYD’s armed wing, for exploiting the Russian airstrikes and Asad's support to seize the areas controlled by the US-backed Syrian Opposition and this has created a source of apprehension for USA.
CIA stated it has proof that YPG collaborated with Russian airstrikes in bombarding a base of Syrian Opposition in Mari'i town in Aleppo province, according to Bloomberg website.
USA is expected to turn its back on PYD after the ceasefire and this will adversely affect the Kurdish question in Syria.
An YPG official recently told Asharq al-Awsat, "We have strategic relations with USA and we are not ready to endanger this relationship as we are in need of the US support in fighting the Islamic State in Syria”.
Talking to BasNews, the ENKS member said "Our attitude is clear in supporting the Syrian Opposition and removing Bashar al-Asad from the power.”
Russia had previously suggested the ceasefire to begin in March, allegedly intending to recapture further areas from the Syrian Opposition, but USA demanded to declare the cessation at once.
