A tense situation persists in the ATO zone in Donbas. In the course of shelling the ATO forces’ positions and civilian objects, terrorists continue actively using 122 mm and 152 mm artillery, among other weaponry.
Militants remain the most active in the vicinity of Avdiivka and its outskirts (including Novhorodske, Butovka, Opytne, and Pisky). During the past 24 hours, terrorists shelled the “industrial zone” in a permanent mode, using 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, heavy machine guns, and grenade launchers. Infantry groups were active on the front edge, as were militants with small arms and grenade launchers (underbarrel and hand-held). South of Yakovlivka, militants are deploying “Akatsiya” 2S3 self-propelled 152 mm cannons (three pieces). Terrorist artillery shellings also come from positions between Mineralne and the Verkhnjekalmiuske Reservoir [Upper Kalmius] reservoir (a firing battery of four 152 mm “Msta-B” howitzers).
In the vicinity of Dokuchajevsk, militants deployed a pair of “Gvozdika” 2S1 self-propelled 122 mm cannons from positions beyond the Dokuchajevsk – Styla road, firing on the flank positions of Ukrainian troops south of Tsentralnyy Karyer [Central Quarry]. This unit is part of the artillery group previously transferred by terrorists and camouflaged in the Obilne – Pischane – Komunarivka triangle.
Militants have stepped up their activity in the vicinity of Popasna. Specifically, the ATO forces’ strongholds east of Novozvanivka were shelled from grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.
The entire stretch between Mayorsk and Zaitseve is being shelled by mortars (including 120 mm), machine guns, and AGS-17’s. Militant fire comes from positions near the Poselok 6-7 estate and from the vicinity of Holmivske.
On the broad stretch south of Donetsk, from Mar’inka to Shyrokyne, militants continue shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The intensity of military truck traffic, particularly tented Kamaz and Ural trucks with covered-up tactical markings, is increasing along the main roads of Donetsk (Artema Street, Leninskyi Ave). At the same time, we observe less armed militants in the streets of Donetsk, who previously roamed the city freely.
Following the “Horlivka garrison,” “mobile anti-sabotage groups” are being created in Makiivka, staffed by members of the militant “DNR Ministry of Internal Affairs.” Russian anti-sabotage specialists arrived in the city to act as “instructors” for the creation of these groups.
The “LNR” militants are circulating information among the locals that the Zolote checkpoint is being kept out of operation by the DRGs of Ukrainian troops in the corresponding region. The DRGs in question are allegedly laying mines and attempt to enter the regions of Stakhanov, Alvchevsk, and Perevalsk to carry out sabotage.
