    Default Online microfinance: www.kiva.org

Interesting website that allows you to do microfinance loans to entrepeneurs in the Third World. Nicholas Kristof of the NYT did a writeup of how he loaned to an Kabul baker and then visited him. No Iraq entries, but a large number of Afghan businesses thru Mercy Corps.

Any idea how the site verifies the authenticity of the loan applicant?

I could see some legal difficulties if it turns out the person who receives the loan is somehow linked to a group on the DoS watch list.

When my $56 million check arrives from my close Internet friend in Nigeria, I may get into this. Any day now.

Our filters blocked that web site as "nudity." Now I'm gonna have some 'splaining to do.

By the way, Tequila, a conspiring anti-American leftist “faction” is actively looking for being involved in microfinance in third world countries since, at least, the year 2000. Is there something at stake with that, coincidentally?

    Talk about needing filters....

I'm not sure what the heck you are talking about, Dominique. Am I part of an anti-American leftist 'faction' actively looking for being involved in microfinance in third world countries since 2000 because I can read an Excel spreadsheet, or is it because I don't like the writings of Norman Podhoretz?

This wouldn't be you at Cannes, would it?
I just spewed on my desk...
