When "fake" is being used...the user attempts to use a tad bit of "truth"..in this case current gas prices to establish the tweet as "valid truth"...
The target audience then picks it up and uses it to justify their own world views as it "fits nicely" into that world view...
WHAT is though not told the target audience is actually the missing piece of information that would indicate what they are reading is in fact "fake and or a blatant lie"....
The user of this type of propaganda whether Russian and or Trump counts on the fact that the reader and or target audience will never see the counter balancing "truth"....
THUS we see an "alternative truth" being created and used in the place of straight simple facts that anyone can check and use....
NOW one can see how social media is being used as a form of "weaponized information" by both Russians and Trump......there is no difference between the two.....
