    Default Transforming Rank Hierarchy

Interesting article by an Air Force officer about transforming the current officer/warrant/enlisted rank centric structure to one of position centric and levels.

My biggest question - when should career advancement and the need bachelor's degree intersect?

    According to the author's model everyone from 0-1 to 0-10, W1 - W5 and E7 - E9 would be required to have a degree.

I'm in full agreement. While we're at it, let's further integrate the branches into a true joint service and eliminate many of the administrative redundancies and consolidate the bureaucracy and language.

Education should be commiserate with the management level as well as position function.
