Great report by Mike Knights breakdown state of IS in Iraq right now. Going for quality over quantity in attacks and just focusing upon rural areas in central Iraq for now. Has to expand however if it wants to remain relevant and sustain itself. https://ctc.usma.edu/islamic-state-i...ving-strength/

    Default Two British non-government commentaries

The first is 'Iraq Unravelling? An Interview with Emma Sky'; she is now @ Yale and her bio in part refers to:
She served in Iraq from 2003 to 2004 as Governorate Coordinator of Kirkuk and from 2007 to 2010 as Political Adviser to General Raymond Odierno, then Commanding General of U.S. forces in Iraq.

The second is by a UK observer, Emily Knowles and in summary:
A year after Islamic State (IS) was declared defeated, a referendum on Kurdish independence, widespread protest, and political powerplay over the Iraqi defence sector is fragmenting the country. Drawing upon field research in Iraq, this briefing examines how choices made throughout the anti-IS campaign have contributed to several of the factors that are currently destabilising the Iraqi security sector
