    Default Pirates and Economists

A very interesting and lively paper (esp. considering it's by an economist), applicable in my view to a range of violent non-state actors:

"An-arrgh-chy: The Law and Economics of Pirate Organization" by Dr. Peter T. Leeson (PDF)

Zen, where do you find this stuff? Great paper imagine if a produvtive company operated this way instead of a pirate company.

    Default Hi Slapout

In this instance, credit is due to this board's most notorious gadfly, Fabius Maximus, who kindly sent it to me via email last week. I also peruse a few h-net listservs and more blogs and think tank sites than I care to name.
