    Default Gertrude Bell Archive

    The University of Newcastle has put the Gertrude Bell Archives online. Literally thousands of photos and letters by the woman who was the driving force behind the founding of modern Iraq. Incredibly interesting stuff.

    edit: Google brings you some of the best stuff. Rory Stewart in the NY Review of Books with a critical take on Bell.
