Global Jihad
I just started reading, _The Far Enemy : Why Jihad Went Global_ by Fawaz Gerges , ISBN: 0521791405
It speaks of Jihadi reference to the "near enemy" of the secular (apostate) leaders of muslim nations and the "far enemy" of their supporters -like the US. It traces the early years where they concentrated against the "near enemy" and why they switched to concentrating their efforts against the "far enemy" - in other words, why they changed the war to a global war. So far, I am only thru the first couple chapters but I had to mention it because the Preface alone gives a great overview of the key players in the jihadi world and is worth the effort of reading the book. I will try to give a more detailed review later on but just wanted to mention it briefly now.
