Folding up a M1950 Weapons Case

Anyone remember or have docs relating to instructions for the U.S. Military Pack, Parachutist's Weapons and Indvidual Equipment Case. The one without zippers as shown and describe below.

I can remember most folds except what the lone strap (furthest left) is used for. I picked up a NOS one dated 8/79. Plan on using for a cover on my shooting bench as well as a shooting pad on the ground and to carry equipment on the range.

The parachutist's adjustable individual weapons case, M1950 is described in TM 57-220 Technical Training of Parachutists, June 1968. You can get a copy here at Global Security.

See also FM 57-230/TO 14D1 -2-1-121 dated September 1989 which describes how to rig the ALICE pack and the M1950 case as a tandem load to lower on the same lowering line.

That's because it's actually a list of references and not a download page.

That extra strap is just to pull open the left flap on the bag to pull the weapon out without undoing the whole case.

That one in the Jump Master document is the one with zippers. Mine is the older version. It was designed for M16 up to crew served weapon and equipment.

Culpeper, The one you show is a We-See bag (WICE) I used to jump a radio in it, PRC-77 (prick 77) it is attached under the reserve and a lowering line to release it before you hit the ground. The 1950 was attached to the parachute harness under your armpit and it could be adjusted to the weapon you were carrying m-16,m-14,m-14 etc. So it is not older just different, seldom would weapons be jumped in a WICE bag usually it was radios.

For carrying a weapon to the range I would think the 1950 would be better, WICE bags can be difficult. But it would make a decent ground cloth.

Yeah, that is what I want to use for is for ground padding and a cover for my shooting bench. Obviously, looking on the Internet it is mistakenly referred to as an M1950. You are correct that it was used as a general purpose equipment case though it is stamped for weapons as well.

I remember this case but I have never jumped with it. WICE makes sense to me Weapons Individual Case Equipment (?). This is what is stamped on it...

The diagram solved the mystery of the third strap for me. It's just a third securing strap and I overlooked the buckle/fastener on the outside for it, which means I'm not quite folding it up correctly.

I'll take some photos of it and post them this weekend.
