    Default Post your favorite threads!!!

There are times when I sit back and worry that I will never be able to digest all of the information, thoughtful opinions, and subtle emotion contained within the Small Wars Council.

Much like the man on the Twilight Zone episode who has all the time in the world to read all of the books written, but has broken his glasses, I can't grasp perhaps 1/10 of what has been laid out here in the time I have available per week.

For that reason, I propose a stickied thread, where members can post the links to favorite threads that they subscribe to, as well as a quick blurb or two (almost a mini review of sorts) on why they like the thread.

I think the mini review is the most critical aspect, because there may be a gem someone dropped on page 7 of a 15 page thread, and it resonates with you. If you are an infrequent visitor, the favorites sticky may help you cull searches down to the bare bones.

If you have several threads that span many forums, you could list the forum titles, and then the individual threads.

    Thoughts?

While I think you might be on to something, I have one question.
If one doesn't have time to read the threads, how is one going to have time to read the critical evals of the threads and then read the threads' contents too? Perhaps an alternative solution would be to synopsize the threads on the "Threads in Forum" pages and/or revise/make better use of the thread rating functionality.

The thread starter might be the responsible person for keeping the synopsis current. No synopsis or no update and the thread either doesn't start or it gets locked to new posts until an updated synopsis is posted

Stuck. We'll see where this goes.

Speaking of the Twilight Zone, along Wm's line of reasoning, if we don't have time to read everything, and don't have time to read the summaries of everything, we probably don't have time to write the synopses.

We do have a Thread Rating function in the board. Use it as you see fit, it gives those little stars that you see in the forum display on a few threads. To rate a thread, open the thread then "Rate Thread" in the menu bar above the first post.

No requirement for synopses, though if you are so inclined some may find it of value, and only a few may object .

Feel free to post favorites here in this thread, per jcustis.
