It is all reminiscent of August 14, particularly now that Poland has agreed to take the US missile defense deal. It is also to be noted the US will initially man the site, providing a trip wire in Poland, and has agreed to an early-than-NATO reponse clause should Poland be attacked by resurgent Russia. . . . “entangling alliances.” Who's next to be pushed into alliances? Ukraine?
I have a well-preserved copy of one of DIA's best products, "Soviet Military Operations," in my library. Watching what is happening on the tactical level, some things never change. However, it appears the Russians do not have an appetite to occupy cities. Ghosts of Chechnya, I am sure.
