Israel must get used to the new Turkey
The recent diplomatic spat between Israel and Turkey arguably thrusts to the limelight the oft-hidden resentment that had been growing over the past few years. What is instructive is that Turkey, under the aegis of its incumbent government, is rediscovering its Middle Eastern roots ( a far cry from the European trajectory that it had been following decades before). Accordingly, whilst the generals and the army that used to call the tune prior to the presidency of the Islamic-leaning part often turned a blind eye to the plight of the Palestinians, the present government appears to be the contrary.
