In retrospect, my views have changed. It's only mission creep if you accept the mission. We don't have to solve all the problems. We can do our best to understand them, report them, and advise local officials on ways to fix them, but at the end of the day, it's not our problem.

Could you expand a bit please? I think I'm seeing a move to a totally different relationship between fielded soldiers and (pick one or many) locals, their mission and the chain of command.
