Ukrenergo asks SBU to verify "strange accidents" at Akhmetov’s facilities

Acting Director of state enterprise NPC Ukrenergo Yuriy Kasich addressed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to verify a number of "strange accidents" at the facilities of power generating companies, resulting in the necessity to cover the shortage of electricity by means of emergency supplies from the Russian Federation, as stated in a letter of Ukrenergo Acting Director sent to SBU chief Vasyl Hrytsak, referred to by Ukrainian news service at theinsider.ua.

In particular, Ukrenergo director claims that in recent days there have been five power outages at the sites of DTEK and the state company Energoatom.

"We have to note an increase in the idle time of power units during generation facilities emergency repairs at DTEK Dniproenergo, DTEK Zakhidenergo and DTEK Skhidenergo," the letter reads.

The SBU has been asked to deal with the situation that jeopardizes the country’s energy system and causes economic losses to the state.

Akhmetov is a proRussian Ukrainian oligarch and if his power plants are not producing then the Ukraine is forced to purchase power from Russia which might well be the intent behind the so called "outages".
