I'm new here and posting at the suggestion of the folks at Small Wars. I'm working on a book about a pretty infamous case of Pentagon contractor fraud. The book is based on a story I wrote for Rolling Stone called "Arms and the Dudes." It's about two young stoners from Miami Beach who managed to win the $300M contract to supply ammunition to the Afghanistan National Army and police. Here's a link: http://guylawson.com/pdf/rollingstone/ArmsDudes.pdf. I'm hoping to find folks who can speak knowledgeably about the effort to "stand up" armies in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm interested in the historical and practical dimensions of the effort. Folks who fought alongside the ANA as embeds would be great. So would people familiar with the procurement process in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Oh: and anyone who knows about the Albanian military would be great too. Thanks. Guy Lawson |
