Admittedly these advances were in "gray areas", bringing the frontlines closer together, and Debaltsevo should have been in Ukrainian hands per Minsk II. Having said that, it would be considered an offensive, just as Russia invaded Chechnya in 1994 and 1999, and Georgia invaded South Ossetia in 2008.
